When Auna Rue transfers to a prestigious new acting school, she encounters a malevolent spirit after participating in a viral challenge.

A woman is kidnapped and finds herself an unwilling participant in a deadly game where women are hunted by masked men. When a group of filmmakers trek deep into the woods to investigate a missing persons case, they inadvertently start a chain of events that lead to horrific consequences.

Sort of a partial found footage film, this is an exercise in trying to capture the uneasiness of the deaths of a group of people in a remote forest area.

The film crew is interviewing an older man who had been the ranger for the area and found the people dead.

His son and grandson are around to help the man as he is reportedly suffering from dementia. Cue a supernatural phenomenon, and the crew start acting weird and are dying or being killed.

Note: the film crew are all "characters" who have quirks but these just make them irritating rather than unique.

Why is this the case in so many of these smaller films? It doesn't create tension or motivate for sympathy for a character. It just creates annoyance in the viewer.

Be prepared for a vague ending that doesn't quite explain "what" is happening regarding the supernatural elements, so you'll just have to be content with that if you watch.

That battle was ultimately lost. A devastating fire in destroyed the dressing rooms — and most of the kit, laid out in preparation for a game the following day.

Forced to groundshare, the team ultimately made a permanent move to the Nissan Sports Complex. Oddities remain: a main stand constructed, in part, out of the kind of panel doors you might find in a house.

A curious wooden seated area outside the old clubhouse, red paint now faded and chipped, resembles a beer garden more than a football ground.

Elsewhere, tell-tale scorch marks and smashed-up electronics indicate how much work would be needed to get the ground back into action.

Saw for myself today just how bad Albany Park has fallen into disrepair. Gateshead FC are my team but I occasionally go to the odd Washington home game as I live in the town and I would love to see them return to Albany Park someway, somehow.

Very Strange! Like Like. Washington, I think, felt that Nissan was bleak, windswept and unpleasant and wanted somewhere different while they explore possible new sites closer to the town centre not sure where they might go, mind.

We'll notify you here with news about. Students unzip the bag on the floor and check for any belongings. The next part, in which the bones are placed in one of two steam-jacketed kettles to dissolve the remaining tissue, always takes some getting used to.

Then the entire skeleton is laid out on a gurney. When all the effects are clean, staff members photograph them against a black background and upload the photographs into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, a database overseen by the National Institute of Justice.

But the NamUs database is different. NamUs merges information from missing-persons reports and data collected from unidentified remains into one system that can be accessed and searched by government agencies and the public.

When the first OpID cases were entered into NamUs in the fall of , there were only eight records of missing persons from Brooks County.

As of this writing, there are forty-eight. Once the skeleton has dried, all of the bones except for the left fifth metatarsal the bone in the foot right below the pinkie toe are placed in a custom cardboard container slightly bigger than a shoe box.

The skull is stored upright in its own compartment of the box, the long bones of the arms and legs are laid in the lower compartment, the ribs are bundled together with a black Velcro cable tie, and the teeth are put in a small paper bag.

The box is labeled with its case number and stored on a shelf in a cool, dry room until it is ready to be analyzed. The metatarsal is sent off for DNA sampling.

Even if there are family members in the U. Those closest to a person who tried to enter the United States illegally might be wary of providing their DNA to police, so NamUs staff members work with law-enforcement agencies, nonprofits, and human-rights groups to facilitate Missing Persons Days in counties across Texas.

At these events, the families of missing migrants can give samples without worrying about possible arrest or detention.

Only after all these steps have been taken can the OpID case be given a comprehensive forensic analysis, which begins with the assembly of the full skeleton on a gurney or table lined with brown paper so that key features can be noted and arrows drawn.

The skull is placed on a small pillow the size of a beanbag to keep it still, with the lower jaw beside it.

If any of the teeth have fallen out during the cleaning process which is common once the tissue that holds them in place has dissolved , they are lined up in order next to the jaw.

If the long bones of the limbs are recovered, they can yield an approximate height range. But given a complete skeleton, the forensic anthropologist can piece together a more detailed narrative.

Is the skull noticeably asymmetrical? If so, the living person likely would have had an irregular face.

Do any of the bones show distinct bulges around them, kind of like a stick wrapped in duct tape? When Spradley turns on the lights in the room where all the cardboard boxes of OpID cases are stored, row upon row, each box an individual life with a story and a family, she knows these are the remains of people for whom life went very wrong.

Late in the evening of Friday, September 14, , two Border Patrol agents had found the body of a young man under a cluster of scrub oak on the La India Ranch, a trophy-hunting preserve that specializes in nilgai, a large species of Asian antelope.

He had been dead for several days. He had collapsed beside a white rock road, three miles from the public highway and five from the town of Falfurrias.

The deputy checked the man for identification but found none, though he did find a plastic bag containing a few grooming items and a cracked iPhone wrapped in a Mexican-flag bandanna.

The justice of the peace pronounced the time of death as the next morning, September Border Patrol spokesperson Henry Mendiola told The Brownsville Herald when it ran a short news item about the recovery of this particular body.

The anthropologists estimated that he had been twenty-six to forty-four years old and stood approximately five-seven to five-ten.

The thing that struck them almost immediately was the condition of his teeth: straight and white, with no cavities or fillings.

That led them to believe he had not spent much of his life in poverty, as perfect teeth generally require good nutrition and dental care, which are hard to come by for economic migrants.

Whoever buried him had thrown their medical gloves into the plywood coffin before they nailed it shut. The tidy box of bones went back on the shelf.

With the DNA sample and photographs having already been uploaded to NamUs, there was nothing else to do but wait. B y the summer of , Zaira Gonzalez had been searching for her older brother, Christian, for almost five years.

Then a junior in high school, Zaira was trying to make sure she fulfilled all her credits for graduation the following year.

Zaira shrugged it off and took the bus. Ever since the family had come to the United States from Mexico in , when Christian was eight, Zaira was three, and their younger brother, Gustavo, was only eleven months, the Gonzalezes had worked to build a life in Texas that was more solid than the one they had on a chicken farm outside Monterrey.

Their father installed carpet and worked as a mechanic in the oil fields; their mother provided childcare for neighborhood kids and cleaned rooms at a local motel.

Their rental house contained little more than a television and a mattress on the floor, but eventually they saved enough for a used Chevy truck and their own three-bedroom home.

As the oldest child, Christian wanted to make his parents proud. They spoke little English when they arrived in the States, but Christian picked it up immediately, having watched hours of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in Monterrey.

He became their interpreter. Christian played varsity soccer and ran cross-country at Palestine High School. He went out to restaurants in Tyler, doused himself in Hollister cologne, and wore cowboy boots with his letter jacket.

On weekends, Christian four-wheeled through the piney woods of east Texas or watched romantic comedies with Lizz, who never complained when he wanted to see Sweet Home Alabama for the hundredth time.

Lizz eventually gave Christian the nickname Buddha because of his cheerful, unflappable demeanor—and because of how much he could eat at school fundraisers.

Whenever she was grounded for partying with her friends, their parents deputized her older brother as chaperone.

Christian was a member of Life Teen, the youth group at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; volunteered at the local soup kitchen; and helped lead vacation Bible school for the younger class.

Christian attended more regularly than most kids, which Flynn says is one of the reasons he remembers him. Life was normal for the Gonzalez children.

They barely discussed the fact that they were legally considered undocumented immigrants, and Zaira says their status had no real effect on their lives other than the occasional glitch it caused with school paperwork.

In , two years after Christian graduated from high school, he was at home playing with a Crosman air rifle when it went off, hitting a younger boy from his neighborhood in the torso.

Christian insisted that this was an accident and that he did not know the gun was loaded. Christian was charged with aggravated assault.

For an undocumented immigrant, any encounter with law enforcement—even a traffic ticket—becomes a giant clock ticking down.

On that afternoon in May , when Christian told his sister he had to go downtown before taking their mother to the grocery store, he was responding to a call asking him to report to his local probation office.

Within two weeks, he was back in the country of his birth with a few hundred dollars and the duffel bag of clothes his family had packed for him since his arrest: Ariat jeans, Ariat cowboy boots, and a tooled leather belt he wore on special occasions.

In Mexico, which to him was essentially a foreign country, Christian tried his best to adjust to the way things worked.

He moved in with an aunt and uncle in rural Tamaulipas, not far from Monterrey, and picked onions for about a hundred dollars a week.

Though the family paid the money, they never saw or heard from the uncle again. Zaira messaged her brother regularly and mailed him items she hoped would cheer him up, like a new iPhone and a pair of black and blue Nikes she bought at the Bealls department store across the street from their high school.

Still, Christian told Zaira he found it difficult to fit in. Without the support of the friends and family he had grown up with, he grew lonelier and more desperate.

In July, Christian began telling friends that he would be back in Palestine by his birthday, August When they asked how that was possible, he told them not to worry about it.

His friend Lizz and her mother, Mendi, both worked at the Palestine Police Department, so he went particularly light on the details with them.

His birthday came and went. So did the first days of September. Then, a little after A. You need to talk to your son, the man on the other end of the line told him in Spanish.

He needs to get moving. Christian had found a coyote to help him swim across the Rio Grande. The man put Christian on the phone. He sounded sick, shaky.
